Implementation of the E-Gate System at Kutaisi International Airport

On September 22, 2025, automatic passenger Check-in System - E-Gate was installed and successfully rendered operational at Kutaisi International Airport enabling passengers to present their boarding passes to the E-Gate Reader, which subsequently triggers the automated opening of the turnstile. Consequently, a passenger who has completed online registration, possesses an electronic boarding pass, and travels solely with cabin baggage can directly check-in via the E-Gate Scanner, thereby bypassing the necessity of presenting himself/herself at a physical check-in counter.
Although E-Gate is functioning in an autonomous mode, it is fully integrated with the Border Migration and Reporting System (BMARS)—a proprietary system managed by the Agency to ensure the seamless realization of law enforcement and national security priorities in course of the border crossing process.
The installment of the System has significantly contributed to the effective streamlining of passenger flow while boarding. Namely, queuing bottlenecks at the check-in counter have been properly addressed and hence, high-velocity throughput of passenger traffic has been effectively secured.
The E-Gate system has been implemented and is currently maintained by the Operative-Technical Agency of Georgia.
